A pure form of silicon dioxide, refined for industry.
Silica sand is a form of silicon dioxide (SiO₂) made up of two elements: silicon and oxygen. Its most common form is quartz: a chemically inert, hard mineral broken down over geologic time into tiny granules by wind and water. It is mostly white or colourless, with shades that depend on the rock detritus and trace minerals in the deposit.
When used for industrial purposes, it is the main structural component in a wide range of construction products (flooring, mortars, cement, roofing shingles, asphalt and many others) where it adds durability and structural integrity.
What makes silica sand different?
To qualify as silica sand, the material must contain at least 95% silicon dioxide and no more than 0.6% iron oxide. Anything else is regular (or construction) sand.
Regular sands contain only up to ~80% silica along with iron, potassium, carbonate and other trace minerals. Those impurities give them their darker brown, pink, black or green colour and disqualify them from the demanding industrial uses silica sand was made for.

Common questions.
Is silica sand the same as quartz?
Quartz is the most common mineral form of SiO₂. “Silica sand” means weathered quartz granules that meet the ≥95% SiO₂ industrial threshold. For higher purity grades (≥99%) we offer high-purity quartz separately.
Can you grade to a specific particle size?
Yes. Foundry, glass and filtration applications all need different gradations. Send your target particle size distribution and we will confirm grade and price.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Both regional West African distribution and international export, FOB Tema or CIF terms.
What packaging is available?
25kg / 50kg bags, 1-tonne jumbo bags, or bulk by container or vessel.
